Competent person
The person permitted to inspect a work equipment item. TRBS 1203 requires suitable vocational training, practical experience with that class of equipment and recent activity in the field – plus freedom from instruction in making the assessment. The older German term “Sachkundiger” means the same. A competent person may be an employee of the company; what counts is not affiliation but qualification and freedom from pressure over the outcome.
