Crane logbook
The record of all inspections of a crane, kept with the installation and required by DGUV rule 52. It records the date, the inspector, the findings and the rectification of defects. For hoisting and traction equipment under DGUV rule 54 – chain hoists, balancers, manipulators – no logbook is prescribed, but a record of the inspection is. A lost logbook does not make a unit unusable; the installation is surveyed and the record started afresh.
