Repair & Overhaul

A unit standing still costs more than the repair.

01 — Overview

When a hoist fails, it is rarely just the unit that stops – usually the workstation behind it stops too. We repair lifting equipment and manipulators of any make, including where the original manufacturer no longer supplies or no longer exists.

What matters with Repair & Overhaul.

01

Findings first, spare part second

A burst hose is rarely the cause and almost always the consequence – of a chafing point, a badly routed line or a joint with too much play. Replace only the hose and the same damage returns within six months. We look for the cause and put it in the report, even when the repair itself takes ten minutes.

02

When the manufacturer no longer supplies

On equipment from the nineties this is the normal case. But a part that is no longer available does not mean the end of the unit: a cylinder can be rebuilt, a control replaced, a mount manufactured again. We come from design engineering – drawing a replacement part and having it made is not an exception for us. Safety-relevant components such as chains, ropes, hooks and brakes, by contrast, we replace only with certified new parts.

03

Overhaul instead of replacement

Serial hoists have a theoretical service life under FEM 9.755. Once it is reached the unit is not used up – it has to be overhauled and the counter reset. In practice: strip the hoist, replace wear parts, overhaul brake and gearbox, load test, documentation. The same unit then runs another cycle – at a fraction of the cost of a new one and without the modifications a different make brings with it at the workstation.

04

What happens to the inspection afterwards

Repair work on a safety-relevant component is an event that can trigger an extraordinary inspection – not always, but more often than assumed. We say at handover whether that applies here, and file the record so the next recurring inspection can build on it.
