Inspection interval

The period between two recurring inspections. It is not a fixed figure from a table but is set by the operator under section 3 of the German Industrial Safety Regulation in the risk assessment – from design, duty, environment and the consequences of failure. The accident insurers’ rules name a minimum of one year for lifting equipment. The common answer “once a year” is therefore often correct but never automatically justified.
