Hygienic design
A design principle for equipment in food and pharmaceutical production: smooth surfaces, no open sections, no blind holes, sloped surfaces for water to run off and welded rather than bolted joints in the product area. For lifting equipment it means stainless steel, enclosed drives and a construction that withstands wet cleaning with detergents.
