Key indicator method
A method of the German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health for assessing physical strain. Load value, posture, execution conditions and time weighting produce a score with four risk bands. It explains why eight kilograms overhead weigh more than twenty at hip height – and is therefore the usual tool for evidencing the need for a lifting aid.
