Handling technology
Umbrella term for all technical means by which loads are picked up, moved, positioned and set down within a workstation or plant. It covers hand-guided equipment such as manipulators and balancers as well as semi- and fully automated systems. It is distinguished from conveying technology, which handles continuous transport, and from robotics, which replaces the operator rather than supporting them.
