The duty point decides.
Pumps, control valves and fittings are the backbone of any process plant – from a small building services loop to a power station pump. We size them to work at an economical duty point rather than at the edge of the curve.
A pump running permanently at the edge of its curve consumes many times its purchase price over its service life – and wears out faster. Correct sizing is therefore not an academic exercise but one of the most effective savings measures there is.
The duty point is where the pump curve and the system curve intersect. So we first determine what your plant actually demands – static head, pipe friction, valve losses, load changes – and only then choose the pump type.
Many plants were generously sized and have been running above requirement ever since. We check existing plants and third-party quotations for over- and undersizing – often with surprising results.
You receive not just a recommendation but the calculation behind it: assumptions, load cases, results. That way the sizing can still be understood in five years – by someone not yet with the company today.
