Control Valves

Control quality begins with the sizing.

01 — Overview

The Kv value is the primary figure for assessing a control valve. We size control and pressure regulating valves to IEC 60534 – including a review of the actual control requirements in the existing system.

What matters with Control Valves.

01

An oversized valve controls worse than a matched one

If a control valve is chosen generously, it works permanently in the lower part of its travel: control becomes nervous, the valve wears at the seat edge and the plant oscillates. The right size is not a question of caution but of calculation.

02

Sizing to IEC 60534

We determine the Kv value by the standardised method – the specific volume flow at a defined travel under the unit conditions of IEC 60534-2-3. That is the primary figure by which a valve's capability can be measured.

03

We look at what is actually being controlled

Before sizing comes the survey: which flows really occur, which pressure differentials, what control quality is needed? Only from that do the right characteristic and body style follow.
